ACE 55 is an American open-pollinated variety introduced by Asgrow in 1964. The red, firm, and slightly flattened fruits are suitable for both fresh consumption and processing. In our cultivation, they ripen about 80 days after planting.
The plants are vigorous and determinate; however, it is advisable to stake them so that the heavy clusters do not lie on the ground. The fruits tolerate transport well and show good resistance to cracking. Seed savers’ descriptions mention tolerance to fusarium and verticillium wilt.
