Its stunning appearance catches the eye—the fruit’s skin features red-orange stripes that form a beautiful mosaic. The flesh is deep red with a rich flavor. This is a late-season variety; the fruit reaches maturity after about 90 days. The plant is tall and requires staking or tying up.
Red Zebra was discovered by Jeff Dawson in California and listed in the Seed Savers Exchange yearbook in 2003. It resulted from a natural cross between “Green Zebra” and another tomato variety. It retained its striped pattern, but the ripe fruit turned red.
