Grandfather Martino seeds were included in Gary Ibsen’s trials at TomatoFest in 2009. The donor noted that his family had been growing this favorite variety for over 50 years. The fruits are irregularly shaped, large, and often weigh more than 600 grams. The skin is thin, resistant to cracking and damage. No distinct shoulders. The flesh is uniform, very creamy, and has an intense tomato flavor. The seed chambers are small, and there are few seeds. The fruit reaches maturity approximately 75 days after transplanting. The plant is tall and requires staking or tying up.
