Ceylon looks like a miniature beefsteak tomato: the fruits are deep red, distinctly flattened, and deeply ribbed. Their full flavor combines a slight sweetness with a pronounced tomato aroma. They look striking in salads and are also suitable for making sauce.
Tom Stearns of High Mowing Seeds introduced it to the seed lineup in 1997 after receiving seeds from Bryan Connolly of Connecticut. Here, it matures about 72 days after transplanting. This tall plant requires staking.
