An heirloom variety from West Virginia, known before 1948. In 1983, Southern Exposure Seed Exchange made it available as its first heirloom variety. The name honors Tappy, who selected plants with uniform fruit, a small core, and good flavor. The fruits are large (350–750 g), pink, slightly flattened, and have the sweet, rich flavor of heirloom tomatoes. They’re perfect for sandwiches and salads, and the juice made from them is second to none. A tall-growing variety that begins to bear fruit fairly late—about 90 days after planting.
