Blue Fire

The "Blue Fire" tomato variety is an exceptionally striking and unusual choice for lovers of traditional tomatoes. Originating from Bill Minkey’s collection, this variety stands out for the unique coloration of its fruit, which starts out green and then ripens to intense shades of blue and black-red, often speckled with gold. The darkest coloring appears in the areas where the fruit is most exposed to the sun.

The plant grows throughout the season, though by the end of the season it does not exceed 120–140 cm in height; it prefers a spreading rather than an upright growth habit. Blue Fire tomatoes are medium-sized, with a sweet, rich flavor and low acidity, making them ideal for eating raw, in salads, and for canning. The dark discoloration of the skin is due to the presence of anthocyanins.

This variety ripens best in full sun, and the waiting time for the first harvest is about 75 days from transplanting.
