Green Zebra Cherry is a unique tomato variety that looks like a miniature version of the popular
Green Zebra
variety. The fruits of this variety are round or slightly oval, covered with green stripes, and take on an amber hue as they ripen. The fruits are very sweet and juicy, yet resistant to cracking, making them an excellent choice for both salads and snacks.
The plant is indeterminate, grows to about 1.8 meters in height, and has moderately dense foliage. It is very productive and bears fruit mid-season, with the fruits ripening about 75 days after transplanting. Discovered by chance in Germany in a mix of cherry tomatoes, this variety quickly gained popularity thanks to its exceptional appearance and flavor.
According to Carolyn Male, Manfred Hahm in Germany noticed the fruit in a package of mixed cherry tomatoes; their origin was traced back to the Netherlands. The name describes a resemblance to “Green Zebra,” but does not prove a relationship between the two varieties.
